Pat's work in the community included being involved with the Mervue-Ballybane Rounders group for many years and they had great success at the Community Games winning Gold and Silver medals a number of years. She organised a choir in the John-Paul Centre in Ballybane and this choir moved to St. Bridget's Church, Ballybane when it opened. Pat willingly gave her time to projects in the church e.g. doing up banners. Pat was also one of a number of people who got the impressive Ballybane Community Centre up and running and had the position of Director. She then returned to nursing a number of years ago and worked in the Caiseal Geal nursing home in Castlegar, and was a valued member of Dunnes Stores, Terryland at the time of her death.

The recent death, after a short illness, of Patricia Folan, Chairperson of St. Patrick's Band was a great shock to her family & friends. Patricia Will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved her, and It seems strangely appropriate that due to the Foot and Mouth crisis, for the first time in living memory the St. Patrick's Day parade did not take place.
