Access Music Project has been based at St. Patrick's Bandhall for a number of years, AMP is a one year work programme that commences each September and runs from Monday to Friday, 10am - 2pm www.AccessMusicProject.ie.
Many other groups also use the Bandroom facilities, such as The Galway Baroque Singers, the Galway Chamber Choir, the Galway Choral Association, including the Galway Boys Choir, the Galway Concert Orchestra, the West Winds Quintet and the Black Magic Jazz Band. While Music for Galway and similar organisations have used the Bandroom as a venue for public concerts. Thus the Bandroom is intrinsically part of the musical fabric of Galway city.
In view of the thirst for musical knowledge in the Western Capital of the Arts, it is remarkable that Galway does not have a dedicated School of Music.
However, St Patrick's Band and the Bandroom, as a purpose built premises, has filled much of that social and musical void for many years, with recognition of this contribution being recently bestowed on the Band by the City's Mayor.
